Elvita DELGADO

Elvita DELGADO
Biography
Elvita Delgado was born in the state of Lara, in northwestern Venezuela. Growing up in an artistic environment with a father who was a guitarist and a mother who was an art teacher, she showed a particular interest in music and singing from a very young age. Her early foray into music was oriented towards Venezuelan folklore and the ethnic music of her country (she never forgets her own roots throughout her career). Elvita Delgado is a singer, songwriter, and, above all, a composer in the Latin World Jazz lineage. She explores a rich and varied palette of styles such as Joropo or Tonada, reflecting the strength and uniqueness of the Colombian-Venezuelan plains. Her music incorporates Venezuelan Merengue in five stages, ritual rhythms from Cuba and Venezuela, Afro-Venezuelan drums, and songs from the Caribbean coast. It presents a multi-ethnic spectacle of Hispanic-American and Amerindian culture, especially emphasizing Afro-Caribbean tempos, infused with jazz, poetry, dance, and joy!
