Biography
Ibrahimi Ibrahim (Father) Born in 1972 in Nangarhar, Afghanistan, into a family of musicians, Ustad Ibrahim Ibrahimi is a recognized master of tabla – classical and traditional percussion – and a music composer. A graduate of Mia Sahib Qader Bakhsh Music High School, he studied under Ustad Sabz Ali Khan. He teaches at the National Institute of Music in Afghanistan and works at the Afghan Radio Television (RTA). He participates in traditional as well as classical, pop, jazz, and rock ensembles, accompanying numerous musicians. He has performed internationally in Iran, India, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and more. He sought refuge in France in August 2021 after the Taliban takeover of Kabul. Humayoun Ibrahimi (Son) Born in 1995 in Nangarhar, Afghanistan, Humayoun Ibrahimi is a musician and composer of traditional Afghan music. He began learning tabla, dholak, and percussion from a young age with his father, a music teacher. He primarily plays with his brother Haroon Ibrahimi, who plays the rubab. In 2014, he pursued business management studies in Kabul. In 2017, he left his country, passing through Greece where he taught music and played with various groups before arriving in Paris at the end of 2018. He performs in concerts and festivals, including at UNESCO and the City Hall of the 11th arrondissement.
