Guappecarto is a quintet of Italian musicians with a sensitive and powerful universe. Born in the streets and music cafés of Italy almost 10 years ago, the group initially dedicated itself to the gypsy and traditional music of Southern Italy before creating its own repertoire, open and enriched by Mediterranean musicalities. A violin, an accordion, a guitar, a double bass, and percussion make up the ensemble. Guappecarto plays as they live, with spontaneity, generosity, and that Italian flair, evoking a cabaret-punk vibe from another era that Fellini could have captured on film. They retain the roots, presence, and distinctive charm of Italy, while borrowing the fervor, a confrontational approach to life, and a borderless movement from Romani culture. In this way, Guappecarto's music undeniably opens up imaginations and narrative boxes.
