The archipelago of Mayotte, 101st French department, yet accustomed to extreme climatic phenomena, was hit by a devastating cyclone on December 14, 2024. This territory had not known anything like it for 90 years. Today, the archipelago continues to heal its wounds. Men have suffered and nature too. However, biodiversity is a major asset for Mayotte, which relies on tourism. For many of its actors, it was necessary to start from scratch. It is also in their culture that the Mahorais find the necessary strength to face the post-Chido era. Thus, in Boueni, women reconnect with an ancestral fishery passed down from mother to daughter, called the Djarifa fishing.
